Domestic Violence

Unfortunately in many family law cases, domestic violence occurs. Usually one party is the abuser and one party is the victim. Often the children suffer from having witnessed abuse or having been abused themselves. The cycle of abuse must stop, even if it takes court intervention. Domestic violence does not have to be merely physical. Other things may qualify, such as threats to hurt the person, or even excessive unwanted phone calls to a party. You should speak to an attorney about your options regarding domestic violence issues. Also, if you are a victim of abuse, there are places you can temporarily stay, such as shelters for abused women. It is also possible to request the abuser leave the family residence under certain circumstances.

Restraining Orders

Usually when a person is victimized with domestic violence, that person then seeks a restraining order against the perpetrator of the abuse. The paperwork can be complicated. We can help you properly fill out the forms and notify the interested parties.
