Restraining Orders

Even in our modern times, domestic violence occurs more frequently than anyone would like to admit. If domestic violence is occurring or has recently occurred between you and your spouse, boyfriend, girlfriend, ex boyfriend, ex girlfriend, or a close family member, you should consider getting a restraining order.

The restraining order process is very quick. If domestic violence is occurring, courts recognize the need for quick temporary relief before a permanent order may be put in place. We can assist you with preparing the forms necessary to obtain a temporary restraining order, which can be presented to the court. The court may or may not grant your request for a temporary order, but will set another hearing for a date up to 3 weeks later to hear the facts from both sides. After the court hears from both sides, then it will decide whether to make the order permanent.

It is important to be truthful in your moving papers. Often people who are not familiar with the legal process inadvertently leave out important facts. We are very experienced with restraining order proceedings as well as related matters, such as custody, visitation, and support issues. Let us use our experience to help you. We can assist you with any aspect of the restraining orders process in Orange County, Los Angeles, or Riverside.
